Livermore, CA Car Storage

Vehicle storage in Livermore

A smarter spot for your vehicle than the driveway

California is a car state. That’s not news to anyone who lives here. But what catches people off guard, especially out in the Tri-Valley, is how fast the space problem sneaks up on you.

You’ve got the daily driver. Maybe a weekend vehicle. And then somebody in the household gets a new car, or a work truck enters the picture, and suddenly you’ve got more vehicles than you have room for. The least-used one ends up on the street or crammed into a spot where it doesn’t really fit, and everybody just kind of lives with it.

Or it’s not even a space issue, it’s a rules issue. Your HOA has opinions about the RV in the driveway or the boat trailer visible from the street. Fines start coming. Suddenly, off-site storage isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s the only option you’ve got.

Or you’re traveling. Leaving a vehicle parked at your apartment or on the curb is asking for trouble. It looks abandoned, it’s a target, and, depending on your municipality, they might tow it.

Real estate angle, too. Selling the house, and your agent says clear the garage and driveway so it shows bigger. A temporary situation, but the vehicle still has to go somewhere safe for a month or two.

If you have a fleet, you probably operate a volatile demand model, or your driver-to-vehicle ratio is off due to layoffs or employees leaving the company. And when a new employee is hired, the vehicle needs to be stored until the driver goes through onboarding. Or, a driver is out on long-term leave, and their vehicle needs to be stored until they return. Or, a new vehicle is done at the upfitter, but no driver has been assigned to it yet.

All of it leads to the same question. Where do I put the vehicle (or vehicles)? Let us walk you through what actually matters out here.

Why Livermore specifically?

The weather here is mild compared to most of the country. And honestly, that works in your favor for outdoor storage. No salt, no ice storms, no brutal winters.

But a vehicle sitting unattended still deteriorates even in a good climate. UV accumulates more than 250-plus sunny days a year, paint dulls, and rubber dries out and cracks. Fire season drops ash on everything. The dust through summer and early fall gets into places you wouldn’t expect. It’s gradual, which is almost worse because you don’t notice until you’ve already lost ground.

The bigger issues are practical, though. Garage space in the Tri-Valley isn’t cheap, and it’s already full of everything else. Street parking varies by neighborhood. HOAs in the newer developments have strict rules. And a vehicle sitting in a driveway, on the street, or in your company’s parking lot is fundamentally unmonitored. A facility with staff-only access is just a different situation entirely.

How storage works at our Livermore facility

We’re at 470 Lindbergh Avenue in Livermore. It’s away from the Bay Area congestion and easy to find. Capacity for about 400 vehicles with on-site EV charging for up to 150, which matters a lot in the Tri-Valley, given how many Teslas and Rivians are on the road.

We run a full-service outdoor operation. We want to be straightforward about that because it matters when you’re comparing options. Your vehicle is in a secured lot, not a building. Fencing, gates, 24/7 camera surveillance and staff-only access during business hours. But what makes this different from just renting a spot is everything we do on top of providing the space. That’s where the actual value lives.

EV battery charging so you don’t come back to a dead vehicle. The periodic engine starts, so things don’t seize up from sitting. Detailing and maintenance, if you need them. Pick-up and delivery so you don’t have to make the drive. We’ll come get it and bring it back. We’ve been at this facility since 2025, and the process is locked in.

Drop-off takes about 15 minutes. Our staff inspects the vehicle, photographs everything, and you get a documented checklist with photos. Want to check on it? Email services@reindeerauto.com for an update or come see it in person. When you need it back, call about an hour ahead of pick-up.

Making sense of the different storage types

Quick version. Outdoor is a secured lot, with weather exposure and controlled access. Covered adds a roof. Indoor is a building. Climate-controlled adds temperature and humidity. Each costs more, and if weather protection is your main concern, covered or indoor does more on that front than what we offer.

But here’s the thing people miss when they’re comparison shopping. The biggest risk to a stored vehicle is not weather. It’s neglect. A vehicle that sits untouched in a fancy indoor facility for six months with a dead battery, stale oil, and flat-spotted tires is actually in worse shape than one in an outdoor lot where someone is regularly starting the engine, checking the battery, and physically looking at it.

The climate in Livermore is mild enough that what you really need is active attention on the vehicle. That’s the value, not the roof over it.

If you're comparing facilities

Pay attention to these three key things when choosing a vehicle storage facility. Ask all of this up front. The good facilities want you to.

01

Security

Meaning how access is controlled and vehicles are monitored. Find out whether there's staff on site and whether it's staff-only or just a gate code that anyone could share. See if security cameras are in place and constantly monitored.

02

Active check-ups

Is someone starting the engine, watching the battery and checking the tire pressure? Or are they just selling you a parking spot with a fence around it?

03

Insurance

What does the facility cover if something happens to your vehicle? What does your own auto policy cover while the car is in storage? And where's the gap between the two?

Whenever you're ready

Vehicle overflow. HOA crackdown. Extended travel. Company layoff. Home staging. Whatever brought you here, the need is the same. Somewhere secured, maintained, and actually looked after.

470 Lindbergh Avenue. Cars, trucks, SUVs, classics, motorcycles, RVs, boats. EV charging on site. Email services@reindeerauto.com and we’ll get it sorted. One less thing to deal with. That’s all this is.
